FAQs

  • The main difference between counseling and coaching is that counseling is past-focused while life coaching is future-focused. Coaching and counseling are two different processes that aim to help a person achieve their goals or overcome their challenges. Life coaching is a process where a coach supports a person to achieve a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance. Coaching often uses a solution-focused approach and helps a person move forward in the areas they want to grow. Counseling is a process where a counselor provides assistance and guidance to a person in resolving personal or psychological problems. Counseling can go deeper and focuses on healing from a past or current situation and helps a person move forward.

  • Some of the benefits of Christian counseling and life coaching include:

    • Improve your emotional intelligence in order to develop a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and values.

    • Identify obstacles that may be holding you back and develop strategies for overcoming each obstacle.

    • Develop skills for improving your relationships.

    • Learn new coping strategies to reduce stress and prevent issues with anxiety and depression.

    • Improve effective communication and conflict-resolution skills.

    • Identify unhealthy patterns of behavior and learn how to replace them with healthier behaviors.

    • Improve feelings of self-worth by increasing self-esteem and confidence.

  • There are quite a few different motivations for seeking counseling and/or life coaching services. Whether you’re going through a major life transition (i.e. unemployment, career change, divorce, loss of a loved one, etc.) or having difficulty handling day to day life stressors, choosing to seek help walking through whatever you’re going through is choosing to invest in yourself. As licensed professional counselors, we can offer the support and encouragement you need while aiding with identifying barriers, as well as developing effective coping skills for getting through difficult periods of time. If you have any concerns regarding your response to counseling or life coaching services, it’s essential that you share those with your provider. Feedback regarding your experience is always welcome! At Flourish Bainbridge, we want to ensure that you receive the full benefits of the services we have to offer.
